How to Iron Your Patch Always check if your item is safe to iron on its tag. You can stitch or pin patches onto items that can't be ironed. 1. Peel off the paper backing and place the patch on the desired spot. 2. Set iron to low/wool. For steam irons, turn steam on. 3. Iron patch for 45 seconds, pressing firmly until completely bonded. Use caution and do not press in one area for too long. 4. Flip over and iron the reverse for 45 secs 5. Let patch cool before touching or wearing.
